The sounds of nostalgia, funk, country and more will fill Marina Park at Kirkland Summerfest 2014 in August

Three days and three stages will entertain with dozens of performers

A music lineup heavy on funk and nostalgia, with a national country performer and local favorites, too, is set for the third annual Kirkland Summerfest to be held Friday through Sunday, August 8 - 10, 2014.

Beatles nostalgia band Crème Tangerine opens on Friday night starting at 7:00 PM at the main stage in Marina Park alongside Lake Washington and the Summerfest Beer & Wine Garden. Then, 10-piece ensemble DoctorfunK brings on the horns at 9:00 PM.

Blues, funk and rock dominate the Saturday night lineup with Swamp Dogs, Funk E Fusion, Big Luv, and Mutha Knows Best on the main stage from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Tayla Lynn, granddaughter of country music legend Loretta Lynn, performs Sunday at 1:30 PM with Neil Diamond tribute band Cherry Cherry capping things off at 5:00 PM.

In between are dozens of other performances.  Besides the main stage, the Community Stage will be located between Volterra restaurant and Bank of America on Kirkland Avenue. And the Lake Street Stage, this year featuring a DJ, will be at the corner of Lake Street and Central Way.

Complete music and event details can be found at or in the program handed out at the festival. Admission is free and there are numerous other activities for all ages including specialty vendors and food trucks, kids’ activities and rides, art and cultural displays, the Kirkland Fish Frolic, a dog fashion show and, of course, a Beer & Wine Garden.

Kirkland Summerfest would not be possible without generous financial support from sponsors including Kirkland’s Auto Dealers (many of whom will have cars on display), EvergreenHealth, Clear Channel Media, Columbia Distributing, MRM Capital, Waste Management, Explore Kirkland, Deano’s Grill, DigiPen Institute of Technology, Eastside Spine & Wellness, FastSigns of Kirkland, Frontier Communications, Wilde Rover Restaurant, Bastyr University, Google, ImageSource, King County Council/Jane Hague (District 6), American Music, Kenworth, Northwest Aerials, Puget Sound Energy, Banner Bank, Kirkland Rotary, Sustainable Kirkland LLC, MJR Development and Passport Unlimited.

Volunteers, too, play a huge role in making this fun for the tens of thousands of visitors. To serve a few hours as a volunteer and get a commemorative t-shirt, register at Search for ‘summerfest.’

And donations are still welcome to help underwrite the cost of making this all possible. Visit to make a donation to support this Kirkland community event today!
