Open City Council Position Attracts 26 Applicants

Large field of applicants for City Council Position

Selection Committee meets today to make recommendations to full Council

 

Kirkland City Council’s anticipated vacancy for position 2 on the Council drew 26 candidates by the time of the application deadline on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. The Council’s Interview Selection Committee, consisting of three current Councilmembers, will review the submissions today and make a recommendation to the full Council as to which candidates to interview at their special meeting on Tuesday, December 13, at 7:30 p.m. The City Council may affirm or alter the recommendation from the Selection Committee and will designate finalists for the appointment by a motion at the meeting. Once the list of finalists is voted on, the Council will decide on the next steps for the interview and appointment process.

Councilmember Shelley Kloba announced at the November 15, 2016 City Council regular meeting that she intends to submit her resignation to the Council following the December 13, 2016 Special Meeting due to her election as State Representative for Legislative District 1.
