Take Part in Building Kirkland’s New Off Leash Dog Park
KDOG (the Kirkland Off Leash Dog Group) is holding a meeting Thursday night February 10th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to welcome the public to help out in designing and building Kirkland’s first fenced dog park as approved by the City Council November 2010.
We welcome anyone interested to take part in creating a place that dogs can call their own. KDOG is forming committees to nail down the decisions for park operations, communications, fundraising and events.
So far, KDOG has raised over $11,000 and is working with several local companies who would like to help sponsor aspects of the park. But we need your help! We want the dog park to open in Fall 2011 and you can be a part of this great new amenity for Kirkland. We will have a basic plan to show everyone for the park at the event.
The meeting is Thursday, February 10th from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Northlake Unitarian Church (308 4th Avenue S in Kirkland) at the corner of 4th Avenue S. and State Street near downtown Kirkland downstairs in the Adams Hall. If you can’t make the event and want to be a volunteer on a committee, please contact Jean Guth, President of KDOG at firstname.lastname@example.org
In 2009 Renton citizens formed RUFF and created the new dog park in Renton. They raised close to $50,000 to build their dog park and did it in close to one year. Kirkland citizens love their dogs just as much as Renton’s do. We know we can make this happen.
To donate to our efforts, use the donation features on our website www.kdog.org or contact Jean to find out about recognition for a larger gift. Or if you are a company that would like to be involved in making a donation, please contact us.
