[nggallery id=126] The Kirkland Transit Center will open for bus service starting Saturday, February 26 following a ribbon cutting and dedication on Friday, February 25. The Transit Center and Plaza boasts expanded capacity, better safety and public art.
The ribbon cutting event will be held inside due to poor weather conditions. Please see the following release from Sound Transit:
We're still on to hold our ribbon cutting event for the new Kirkland Transit Center tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 25 at 11 a.m. with one small change. We'll have the program indoors in a heated empty storefront in the Kirkland Square shopping complex just across the street from the transit center, next to the Papa John's pizzeria at 211 3rd Street. We hope you can join us starting at 10:30 a.m. for live music, refreshments and information tables followed by an 11 a.m. speaking program. After the speeches, we'll head across the street to cut the ribbon at the new transit center plaza. If you're planning on attending, please dress warmly and drive carefully using main arterial streets to get to the event. Park at the Municipal garage under the Kirkland Library and walk one block to the event at Kirkland Square (just follow the signs).
