Kirkland to Initiate Completeness Meetings for New Single-family Building Permits

The City of Kirkland Development Services is continually looking for ways to improve our permit review process for our customers. We have found that one of the leading factors that cause increased permit review times for new single-family homes is incomplete Building Permit applications. These increased review times impact both the customer and the City.

In an effort to improve service and reduce the overall time it takes to review your permit application, the City is initiating a 90-day pilot program where a completeness meeting prior to Building Permit submittal for new single-family homes will be required. There is no fee for these meetings and the 20 minute (max) meeting will ensure that your submittal documents are complete and accurate, allowing the City to review your permit application more efficiently.

The pilot program will begin on July 5, 2011; all Building Permit applications for new single-family homes made after this date will need schedule a completeness meeting.  A completeness meeting can be scheduled for Tuesday or Friday between 8:00am and 10:00am, and the meeting request needs to be made at least 1 business day in advance.
