Woodland Park Zoo is now offering a free and convenient way for Eastside residents to get to the zoo.
From June 25 until September 4, 2011, the zoo will offer a free shuttle service to help Eastside zoo patrons save on the cost of gas, parking, tolling, and it will be a fun, hassle-free way to ride to the zoo and do right by the environment.
Twenty-five passenger shuttles, provided by SP Plus Transportation, will pick passengers up at the South Kirkland Park and Ride, 10610 NE 38th Pl., in the main bus loop and drop people off at the zoo’s South Entrance. The shuttles will pick up every half hour, starting at exactly 9:15 a.m. and ending at 6:15 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays only. Soon, a GPS-tracking service and smart phone application information will be added to this site so users will know exactly when they can expect a shuttle to arrive at the South Kirkland Park and Ride or the zoo’s South Entrance.
Each shuttle includes compartments for strollers or luggage, seat belts and they can hold up to eight car seats.
The zoo’s Eastside Shuttle is a partnership with King County Metro with a focus on reducing vehicle impacts and providing transportation convenience and ease.
