Great news for picnicing families on Labor Day Weekend -- most of the lawn areas at Juanita Beach Park are now open to the public in time for picnics and playing. The weather looks to be sunny and warm with highs in the upper 70's to low 80's all weekend long. Enjoy the holiday!
The following letter regarding Juanita Beach Park was forwarded to us by a reader:
We would like to let you know that the Juanita Beach environmental work required to be accomplished by August 31 within our permitting “fish window” has been completed by our contractor and approved by the inspector for the State Department of Fish and Wildlife. Pedestrian bridges have been installed, stream bank stabilization measures are done, and temporary dams which had isolated the new marsh areas from Juanita Creek have been removed.
Today we are opening most of the park’s lawn areas for public use in time for the Labor Day weekend. More room for picnic blankets!
We still have 2-3 weeks of construction activity remaining before the project is substantially complete, including additional landscaping, fencing, trail construction, and general clean-up. We’re in the home stretch and will keep you updated.
