Kirkland Fire Department Quickly Extinguishes Kitchen Fire

No occupant injuries, cause under investigation

On Wednesday, November 23, 2011, ten units from the Kirkland Fire Department responded to a structure fire at a single-family residence in the 13400 block of NE 136th Place in the Kingsgate neighborhood.  The time of the call was 2:48 p.m.  The Kirkland Police Department also responded, as did two city fire investigators.  Although the fire had developed to the point where it was rolling across the kitchen ceiling, it was quickly extinguished by the initial engine company with a hose line.  There were no injuries to the occupants of the house; however one Kirkland fire fighter suffered a moderate ankle sprain when advancing the hose line through the garage.  The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Kirkland Fire Department.  It is estimated that structure loss is approximately $10,000 and personal property loss is approximately $15,000.  For more information, contact the Kirkland Fire Department Media Information Line at 425-587-3699.
