Kirkland police responded to 814 8th St South just after 4:30 this afternoon after a home owner confronted a strange male hiding in his backyard. The male was limping and possibly covered in blood. The male told the homeowner he heard a gunshot before running off and climbing over the fence into another yard. Police quickly setup a perimeter and a K9 arrived on scene to assist. Before the K9 could start his track, the juvenile-male emerged from a nearby yard to give himself up. The male showed indications of possible drug impairment and was arrested on criminal trespass charges and later released to a parent. The subject had minor scrapes and bruises received while climbing through neighbor’s yards and over fences. It appears the male made up the story of hearing a gunshot when he was confronted by the homeowner. The investigation will continue to determine if any other crimes occurred and if any additional charges are warranted.
