Kirkland restaurants join Eastside Food Drive effort

Local restaurants are joining in on the community effort to collect food for the Eastside Food Drive’s Sept. 15 and Sept. 29 collection events. Several are donating gift cards that will be used for a volunteer raffle at the end of the event. Volunteers receive a raffle ticket for each two-hour shift they cover. So far, 74 people have signed up to collect food at one of Kirkland’s grocery stores on Sept. 15 or Sept. 29. That’s a 32 percent improvement over last year. However, organizers say they are still actively pursuing volunteers. Ideally, they say, they’d have 120 volunteers.
